Pence Votes for Balanced Budget Amendment to Constitution

U.S. Congressman Mike Pence voted today in support of H.J. Res. 1, a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution during consideration in the House Judiciary Committee.

"To put our fiscal house in order, we need to make real and meaningful reforms in the way we spend the people's money in the short term and the long term. With a national debt greater than $14 trillion and our federal government running a clearly unsustainable $1.5 trillion annual deficit, it is time to amend the Constitution to require a balanced budget.

"To get the American people back to work, we need to embrace policies that will promote growth and investment, and everything starts with putting our fiscal house in order. Passage of a Balanced Budget Amendment will reverse our current course of reckless spending and record debt. If we fail to act today, our children will be less free, less prosperous, and less secure."
